Lady Tigers get strong road win

February 14, 2012
The Altoona Mirror

SIDMAN - Alex Gildea scored 12 points and pulled down 12 rebounds, and Morgan Griffith had 22 rebounds and scored nine points to lead Hollidaysburg over once-beaten Forest Hills, 48-42, Monday night in high school girls basketball action.

"This was a very tough game for 32 minutes," Hollidaysburg coach Deanna Jubeck said. "Forest Hills is a very skilled team. The kids were very resilient for 32 minutes. We controlled the boards and hit the free throws down the stretch."

The Lady Tigers (12-8) outscored Hills (19-2) in the fourth quarter, 15-8.

"We didn't shoot well in that quarter," Hills coach Carol Cecere said. "Our post players were in foul trouble, too, so they were a little tentative."

Casey Gallaher's 13 points were tops for Forest Hills, which trailed, 21-19, at halftime.

"We were down a couple players," Cecere added. "Briana Kostan was not at the game. Amanda Meier had a concussion ... she is our first post player off the bench. The last 2:30 mintues, our point guard [Gallaher] got injured and she was our leading scorer so that sort of hurt us."
