Area could see 7 inches of snow

February 11, 2012
From Mirror staff reports

Up to 7 inches of snow may fall this weekend in parts of the Mirror coverage area, the National Weather Service in State College said Friday.

A winter weather advisory is in effect until 7 p.m. today for Cambria and Clearfield counties, the weather service said. Difficult travel is possible due to reduced visibility and snow accumulations.

Gusty winds combined with temperatures falling into the single digits and teens will produce wind chills below zero tonight, the weather service said. Snow may be heavy at times today.

A cold front associated with an upper-level system will spread Arctic air into the state with widespread lake effect and upslope snow showers over the western Pennsylvania mountains into Sunday.

Dry conditions are expected to start next week, but more wintery precipitation may return by Tuesday with temperatures forecast to slowly rise over the next seven days, the weather service said.
