HOLLIDAYSBURG - Southern Alleghenies Elite Orthopedics is now open for business.
Elite Orthopedics, an affiliate of Altoona Regional Health System, will serve patients from Blair, Huntingdon, Bedford, Clearfield, Cambria, Centre and Somerset counties from its office at Gateway Centre, 601 Hawthorne Drive, across from the Hollidaysburg Area YMCA.
The practice is headed by Dr. Charles Harvey, who left Blair Orthopedics after 20 years.
Harvey said it wasn't easy leaving Blair Orthopedics.
"Blair Orthopedics is a great group. I loved it there. I looked at the future of health care, and it is moving toward more collaborative efforts," Harvey said.
Harvey, a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who specializes in spinal (neck and back) disorders and total hip replacement, will be joined in the practice by Dr. Corey Schutt and Dr. Jack Rocco.
Schutt and Rocco are joining Elite Orthopedics from University Orthopedics.
Schutt, a fellowship-trained orthopedic trauma surgeon, will join the practice Feb. 6.
Rocco, an orthopedic surgeon, is expected to join the practice in April, Harvey said.
