Regional photographers display work

CRESSON - Mount Aloysius College's Wolf-Kuhn Gallery, located on the first floor of the Main Building is hosting a photo display featuring the work of five leading area photographers through Jan. 12.

The exhibit includes J.D. Cavrich of Hollidaysburg, Dave Hammaker of East Freedom, Larry McKee of Altoona, Gail Murray of Altoona and David W. Seidel of Altoona.

The displayed photographs are of diverse subjects and include shots that will appeal to railroad buffs, lovers of southwestern landscapes, both in color and black and white, cityscapes and sports action shots in vivid color.

Cavrich is photo editor of The Altoona Mirror. He has won several awards from the Pennsylvania Newspaper Association for his photography and has been published in many national newspapers and magazines.

Hammaker been working professionally for more than 40 years. In 2007, he was selected as an Artist-In-Residence at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon National Park, Ariz. His works are held in numerous public and private collections.

McKee still uses film in his work and has won many local and national photography awards, including the Grand Prize in the Pittsburgh Press Snapshop Contest seven times. His work is part of the permanent collection at the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art at Loretto.

Murray has been a member of the Altoona Blair County Photo Society for 33 years. She has exhibited her work at the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art, the 50th Anniversary of Altoona Blair County Photo Society at SAMA, Altoona Public Library, Blair County Arts Foundation and other venues.

Seidel is also a member of the ABC Photo Society and a founding member of the Horseshoe Curve Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society.

The Wolf-Kuhn Gallery is open to the general public free of charge whenever there is not a conflicting event at the venue. Call 886-4131 to plan a visit.
