This probably rules out Todd Graham for the Penn State job.
Or maybe not.
Maybe a day or a week after Graham stunningly left the University of Pittsburgh for Arizona State, maybe he'd talk to Dave Joyner & Co.
Oh, never mind.
Because of its own extraordinary problems, Penn State is seeking a character hire, and Graham has none.
Graham's ridiculous departure may be the most classless act in Pittsburgh sports history, but he probably did Pitt a favor in the long run.
To entertain a job offer after less than a year at Pitt, Graham clearly proved he was a man of no integrity and was looking for the first ticket out of town.
And then he didn't even have the decency to tell his players in person - instead choosing to do it via text message, presumably because he had to catch a flight to Tempe.
Wow. Why didn't he just tweet it?
Graham better have success at Arizona State because it's hard to believe he'll get another job anytime soon. If you're keeping score, ASU will be Graham's fourth stop in seven years (2005-2011).
Then again, college sports are not exactly a bastion for scruples so maybe Graham will go 6-6 next year and start entertaining offers from the next-highest bidding fool.
If there's anybody who looks almost as bad as Graham, it's Panther athletic director Steve Pederson, who hired Graham after having to fire Michael Haywood in the wake of domestic violence charges filed just two weeks into the job.
It will be interesting to see if Pederson will be entrusted with another search, and how he can possibly survive this.
He obviously didn't do enough background checks on either of his last two brainstorms, and the results have been totally unfair to Pitt's proud football history.
Further, Pederson not only hired Haywood and Graham, but he gave Dave Wannstedt a contract extension after the 2010 season and then fired him.
His next coach will be Pitt's fourth in the last 13 months.
Pederson also blew the chance to hire Tom Bradley, obviously the best coach available, the last time around.
Whether Bradley can get back into the mix with the Panther job is questionable in the wake of the Jerry Sandusky scandal because Pitt can't afford to venture into the unknown that a future jury trial could produce.
And that's too bad, too.
In the meantime, I hope Todd Graham doesn't win a single game in however many seasons Arizona State is stupid enough to keep him.
