Ray E. Glass, 83, Altoona, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday at his home.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Edwin K. and Sadie M. (Foltz) Glass. He married Barbara J. Maguire on Dec. 29, 1950, in Altoona, and she preceded him in death on Feb. 9, 2001.
Surviving are a daughter, Molly G. Plunket and husband, David, of Altoona; two granddaughters: Erin Peterman and husband, Spencer, of Altoona and Natalie Winder and husband, Chad, of Mifflinburg; and two great-grandchildren: Brayden and Marlee Winder.
Ray was a 1947 graduate of Altoona High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, serving in Germany. He retired from Philips ECG Inc., in July 1988 as a machinist after 35 years of service. He was a member of First Baptist Church.
Ray enjoyed golfing and bowling. He was a life member of the Bavarian Aid Society, Heidelberg Country Club and German American Club.
Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011, and 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Friday, Nov. 18, 2011, at E. Merrill Smith Funeral Home Inc., 2309 Broad Ave., Altoona, Pastors Tyler Pepper and Chad Winder officiating. Interment will be held at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
