Felony sex-abuse charges have been filed in Centre County against former Penn State defensive coordinator and Second Mile founder Jerry Sandusky, the Harrisburg Patriot-News reported on its website this afternoon.
The charges follow a grand jury investigation that lasted more than two years and began when a Clinton County teen alleged inappropriate contact against the 67-year-old former coach.
During the investigation, the Harrisburg paper reported, older allegations from 1998 surfaced as well. In the older case, Penn State police investigated inappropriate touching in a shower.
The Patriot-News reported the charging paperwork has not yet made it to the District Magistrate Judge's office in Centre County.
However, felony charges of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse of someone under 16, aggravated indecent assault, indecent assault of someone under 16, indecent assault of someone under 13, and corruption of minors charges have been filed in the state court docket system, the Patriot reported.
The offense dates include 1996, 1998, 2000, 2002, and 2005. There are 40 counts included in the paperwork filed against him.
Sandusky retired last fall from the Second Mile, a non-profit organization devoted to serving children.
Mirror reporters are working on a story for Saturday's paper.
