HYNDMAN - Trenton Barnes and Tanner Russell each had a goal and an assist Monday night to lead Northern Bedford to a 3-1 win over Hyndman Charter in the District 5 Class A high school boys soccer quarterfinals.
Northern, now 11-8, will play Fannett-Metal tonight at 7 at Bedford in the semifinals. Playing back-to-back nights doesn't seem to bother Panthers coach Marcus Yeatts either.
"It is the same for every team so that's not a problem," Yeatts said. "It's better than the girls teams because they have to play three days in a row."
Northern, up 3-1 at halftime, also got a goal from Coltin Ebersole.

Tussey girls fall
SAXTON - The season came to a close for the Tussey Mountain girls as the Lady Titans fell to Berlin, 2-1, in the District 5 Class A quarterfinals.
Berlin will play North Star tonight in the semifinals. North Star beat Northern Bedford, 8-0.
"We had a lot of opportunities," Tussey coach Bree Manges said. "I truly think the game could have went either way. Unfortunately, the ending result is not what I had hoped for."
Gina Trulick scored both goals for Berlin in a game that was tied 0-0 at halftime. Tussey got its lone goal from Courtney Rupert. All three goals were unassisted.
"I am very proud of how far we came as a team this year," Manges said. "They have no reason to hold their heads down."
