Chinese company heading to BJC

UNIVERSITY PARK - The National Acrobats of the People's Republic of China, a company based in Beijing, has amazed audiences in more than 40 countries with its awe-inspiring feats. While the troupe has performed on four continents, its visit to Penn State's Eisenhower Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 2 is part of its debut tour to the United States.

Tickets for the Center for the Performing Arts presentation are $40 for adults, $22 for University Park students and $29 for those ages 18 and younger. Tickets are available online at www.cpa.psu.edu, by calling 863-0255 or 800-ARTS-TIX or in person at Eisenhower Auditorium, Penn State Downtown Theatre Center, HUB-Robeson Center and Bryce Jordan Center.

Pianist Spielberg to play concert

HUNTINGDON - Acclaimed pianist Robin Spielberg will perform a concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in Rosenberger Auditorium in the Halbritter Center for the Performing Arts on the Juniata College campus.

Spielberg has performed worldwide, including at the esteemed Carnegie Hall, and has performed on such television shows as "CBS Sunday Morning." She is now the celebrity spokesperson for the American Music Therapy Association.

Tickets are $20 for the general public and $12 for seniors age 65 and older and children age 18 and younger. For tickets and information, call 641-JTIX.

Admission is free for Juniata students with a student I.D.

Chorale performs on Saturday

The Blair Concert Chorale and the Altoona Area High School Chamber Orchestra will present "Gloria," by Antonio Vivaldi, at 8 p.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Eighth Ave. and 11th St.

Artistic director Jeffrey L. Webb will conduct the 40-member chorale, and Kelly Detwiler will conduct the orchestra. This concert is presented in memory of founding sponsor Jeanne E. Fiore, who passed away in May 2011.

Following intermission, the Blair Concert Chorale Children's Choir, under the direction of Jennifer and Scott Pappal, will perform several pieces. The Blair Concert Chorale will conclude the program with several more songs.

Tickets are available through the Blair Concert Chorale at 944-7851 or www.blairconcertchorale. org or at the Eighth Avenue entrance to the Mount Carmel Catholic Church one half hour before the performance.

The suggested donation is $15 for adults and $8 for students.

Pianist, orchestra join forces

UNIVERSITY PARK - American piano virtuoso Leon Fleisher will perform a concerto by Sergei Prokofiev with the Irish Chamber Orchestra - conducted by Gerard Korsten - at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 4, in Penn State's Eisenhower Auditorium.

The orchestra, resident ensemble at the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance at the University of Limerick, also performs works by Franz Joseph Haydn, Ludwig van Beethoven and contemporary composers as part of its first American tour as a full, 38-member ensemble.

Tickets for the Center for the Performing Arts presentation are $45 for adults, $22 for University Park students and $32 for those ages 18 and younger. Group presents 'Rocky Horror'

STATE COLLEGE - Love & Light Productions will present the classic rock opera "The Rocky Horror Show" at 8 and 11 p.m. Oct. 28, 29 and 30 at The Arena, 1521 Martin St.

The sexy, edgy musical follows a clean-cut, naive engaged couple whose car breaks down on a dark road one stormy night. The pair take refuge at the home of a mad scientist, the strange Dr. Frank 'N' Furter, and they become wrapped up in a crazy story.
