JOHNSTOWN - Johnny Sheesley scored on a 1-yard plunge with 23 seconds left in the first half as Blacklick Valley went on the road to score its first win of the year in WestPAC action at Ferndale.
The game was played in swampy conditions and featured 16 fumbles. The teams combined for just 199 yards.
"The field conditions were very difficult and affected both teams. It was nearly impossible to move the ball and passing was almost out of the question." Blacklick coach Bill Zamboni said. "We are really happy to pick up a win here at Ferndale. It's a tough place to play and with the rain it made it even tougher."
The Vikings converted a fourth-and-4 at the Ferndale 44 and got a 22-yard pass from Sheesley to Justin Paul to help set up the only touchdown of the game. The drive started at midfield when Tyler Laughard sacked Ferndale quarterback Chad Eisenhuth on a fourth-down play.
Ferndale fell to 0-5.
