CONTACT Altoona and Mt. Aloysius College are hosting a WISE-Women funded event on Saturday, October 1, at the Ramada Inn in Altoona.
Part of this event is a Volunteer Recruitment Fair. This fair is open to the general public. The fair provides a one-stop center for individuals who would like to give back to the Blair County community by volunteering, but may not know what agencies need volunteers.or where their talents/interests are best suited.
From 10:15am until 1:30pm, Blair County agencies who need volunteers will be available to provide information on opportunities or sign-up prospects on the spot! Some of the agencies who will be in attendance include: CONTACT Altoona; Girl Scouts; Boy Scouts; Family Services, Inc.; Altoona Regional Health System; Valley View Home; American Red Cross; Blair County Literacy; AASD Family Literacy; Continuing Education Center; James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center; WISE Women.
The
Blair/Clearfield Assoc. for the Blind/Visually Impaired will also be participating, and will provide free eye screening. With the economy struggling, volunteering is a great way to give without worrying about the household budget!
