CRESSON - The Hollidaysburg boys golf team took second place in the Yurochko Memorial Tournament at the Summit Country Club.
The event is a Ryder Cup-style event, consisting of two two-man teams from each school.
The Tigers placed second with a score of 150, two strokes off of Mifflin County.
They were led by Jarrett Wood and Cameron Humphrey carding a 74. Teammates Jordan Kirsch and Nolan Robins shot a 76. Bishop Guilfoyle's Chris Michelone and Conner Wharton carded a 78 to help the Marauders take fourth. E.J. Madey and Mark Frederick shot an 83 for Bishop Guilfoyle.
Altoona's Ben Wyland and Evan Farrell teamed up to shoot a 79 while teammates Andrew Burlingame and Chris Curfman carded an 86 to take sixth place. Central's A.J. Farkus and Matt Dillon carded an 89, and Jarrett Ritchey and Preston Gregg shot a 78 to take seventh place.
Greg Ferguson and Olivia Stever of Tyrone shot a 77, and Coleman Harris and Elijah Dehaven shot a 78 to help the Eagles take eighth. Ian Dunmyer, Nolan Link, Don Perino and Robert Pramuk helped Penn Cambria take 11th. Huntingdon's Noah Eastman, Tanner Cook, Clay Bishop and Derek Menkel finished 12th.
In the girls tournament, Hollidaysburg's two teams took second and third place, respectively. Teresa Kuhns, Julie Brustle, Quincy Gildea and Mariss Rosensteel combined for a 185. Kaylee Stiffler, Anna Springer, Abby Love and Ginger Glass shot a 230.
Red Devils take a pair
EBENSBURG - Led by Max Kirsch's medalist score of 74 and Sam Stevens' second-place finish of 76, Central Cambria swept decisions from both Westmont Hilltop and Johnstown in Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference action.
Central Cambria, which improved to 10-1 overall and 9-1 in the Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference, logged a team score of 404. Westmont Hilltop finished with a team score of 461.
Johnstown did not register a team score because the Trojans had only three players card scores, two below the necessary team score of five players.
