PITTSBURGH - Matt Dry threw for one touchdown and ran for two as Altoona defeated Fox Chapel, 42-0, in junior varisty football action on Saturday.

Colby Fink and Josh DeGol each returned interceptions for touchdowns for Altoona as the Lions moved to 3-0.

Hollidaysburg JVs romp

HOLLIDAYSBURG - Luke Aigner threw for a touchdown and also ran one in as the Hollidaysburg junior varsity football team beat Ringgold, 34-14, at Tiger Stadium.

Aigner hit Blake Davis with a 28-yard strike and scored on a 1-yard run.

The Tigers, who led 20-14 at halftime, also scored on a 28-yard run by Zane Brunner, a 4-yard run by Justin Castro and a 5-yard run by Liam Martin. Brandon Soellner also added four PAT kicks.

Altoona boys soccer team falls

Despite Joey Settimio's goal, Altoona fell to North Allegheny, 4-1, at Mansion Park in boys soccer. The Lions fell to 3-3.

Maroon JV girls prevail

The Altoona Maroon girls junior varsity volleyball team defeated the Altoona White team, 27-5, 25-22, to win the second annual Altoona JV Invitational at the AAHS Fieldhouse.

The Maroon team defeated Northern Cambria, St. Joseph's Acadamy and Bishop Guilfoyle Purple. Aubrey Hileman led the Maroon team with 41 service points and 82 assists.

The Altoona White team defeated Bald Eagle Area but fell to Bishop Guilfoyle Purple in pool play. However, the White team was able to defeat Bishop Guilfoyle Purple in the semifinals, 25-23. Lauren Wilt had 27 service points and seven aces.

Bishop Guilfoyle Gold won the Silver Division, ousting Bald Eagle Area, 25-13.
