GRAZIERVILLE - Clem's BBQ on Old Route 220 near the Grazierville Bridge will close in mid-October.
"I told Bob [Stager] and Sam [Anders] it is a marginal location for our model," said business owner Clem Pantalone. "We did about half [the business] there a day as what we did in Port Matilda. Our model is based on high volume."
Anders and Stager own the building.
When Clem's moved from Port Matilda to Grazierville in spring 2009, Pantalone was optimistic there would be enough traffic to support his business.
He said he has found a new location on Route 220 between Jersey Shore and Williamsport.
"I plan to take advantage of all of the Marcellus Shale activity in that area," Pantalone said. "According to PennDOT, the traffic on the road has increased from 17,000 to 29,000 vehicles daily."
Pantalone said he hopes to continue with his catering business, which had been based out of the Grazierville location.
Pantalone, who also operates a Clem's location at 1663 S. Atherton St., State College, said he could operate the catering business from that site but will look for another location in the Altoona or State College area.
