Country group to visit BJC
UNIVERSITY PARK - Live Nation will present The Zac Brown Band, Sonia Leigh and Nic Cowan in concert at 8 p.m. Oct. 14 at the Bryce Jordan Center.
The Zac Brown Band's major label debut, "The Foundation," was a big hit and won the band a Grammy for Best New Artist in 2010. Seven of the group's first eight singles have hit No. 1 on the Billboard Country Charts, including the Grammy winning "As She's Walking Away."

Leigh and Cowan are country acts signed to Brown's record label Southern Ground, which he launched in 2009.

Caverns hold haunted event
HUNTINGDON - Lincoln Caverns will present "Ghosts and Goblins 2011," its 28th annual haunted cave and trail, Oct. 7 through Oct. 29 at the Huntingdon area caverns.
From 6 to 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays in October, the caverns will present the haunted caverns, plus the haunted trail walk.
From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays in October, the venue will host one-hour family tours of two crystal caverns - one haunted and one natural.

CPA offers student sale
UNIVERSITY PARK - The Center for the Performing Arts at Penn State is throwing a party - complete with free food, entertainment and prizes - for University Park students. During the fourth-annual Student Patio Party, from 7 to 9 p.m. Sept. 7 at the Eisenhower Auditorium patio, University Park students may purchase tickets to 29 2011-2012 CPA presentations for 20 percent off the already-discounted student prices.
Presentations eligible for the sale include: the touring Broadway shows "In the Heights," Green Day's "American Idiot," "Young Frankenstein" and "Cats"; National Acrobats of China; Paul Taylor Dance Company; four-time Tony Award winner Audra McDonald in concert; Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis; world music superstar Anoushka Shankar; jazz vocalist Gretchen Parlato; and Vienna Boys Choir.
In order to purchase discounted tickets, a University Park student must show his or her Penn State identification card. Each eligible student may purchase one discount-priced ticket per event.

SAMA to host Blue Monday
The Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art at Altoona will close its 2011 Blue Monday season at 6 p.m. Sept. 12. The program will feature music by Tom McCarty & Friends and a tour of the museum's latest exhibition, "Artists in Our Midst: Art in Common Annual Juried Exhibition."
