My favorite sport: Hockey. It is fast paced, and there is constant action.
My all-time favorite local player to watch while growing up: Derek Mathews, a hockey player for Altoona. He has great stick handling, vision on the ice and ability to score consistently make him the complete package.
My all-time favorite local coach: Bruce Makin. He was my coach at Altoona for soccer.
My favorite high school team: Altoona Area
My favorite college team: North Carolina
My favorite pro team: Colorado Avalanche. Joe Sakic was the best in the game when I was a kid.
The most famous sports person I have ever met: I met Franco Harris when I was walking outside of Heinz Field at the Winter Classic.
My most prized sports photograph/memorabilia: I have a goalie stick signed by the entire 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey team
My sports claim to fame: winning the District 6 soccer title in 2006.
If I were the czar of local sports, the one thing I would change would be: I would add lacrosse to the local high school sports. It is one of the most exciting games to watch.
