Across the 10-county area of PIAA District 6, 50 high schools and their athletes were eligible for $2,000 in scholarship awards through the Sportsmanship: Let it Begin With Me! Program.
The program recognizes two senior students (one female, one male) from each of the fifty senior high schools that exemplify leadership in sportsmanship. Each school established a selection process and was asked to submit two names for recognition. The selected students will receive a sportsmanship medallion.
In addition to the medallion, four names were drawn from a lottery and each of the selected students will receive a $500 scholarship in recognition of their accomplishments in the area of good sportsmanship.
Claysburg-Kimmel's Joey Kamrud and Williamsburg's Miranda Deterline were among the four scholarship winners.
