UNIVERSITY PARK -- Pat Chambers will be Penn State's new men's head basketball coach.
He is expected to be introduced Monday.
Chambers has been the head coach at Boston University for the past two seasons, posting a 42-28 record. He signed a contract extension last month through 2016, but decided Friday to succeed Ed DeChellis, who left Penn State on May 23 to become the head coach at Navy.
Two of the other PSU finalists, Duquesne's Ron Everhart and Wisconsin-Milwaukee coach Rob Jeter, publicly removed themselves from consideration in the last two days.
Under Chambers, a former Villanova assistant, the Terriers won the America East title and advanced to this year's NCAA Tournament, where they were beaten by Kansas in the second round.
Multiple media outlets reported Friday that Chambers is the PSU choice.
A BU spokesman declined comment to the Associated Press.
The Mirror will have more on the story in Saturday's edition.
