Lady Lions push record to 18-1
NEW PARIS - Chestnut Ridge won two games on Saturday, beating Hyndman, 9-8, in a the first game of a twinbill, and then beating Southern Fulton, 11-1, in five innings in the nightcap in high school softball.
Ridge is now 18-1 and will begin play in the District 5 Class AA playoffs on Thursday.
In the win over Hyndman Saturday, Ridge trailed, 8-7, going into the bottom of the seventh. However, Tiffany Finnegan scored on a wild pitch to tie it at 8-all. Then, with the bases loaded, Alana Weyant's sacrifice fly scored Kayla Gates with the winning run.
Tiffany Clingerman led Ridge with three hits and an RBI.
In the win over Southern Fulton, Bridget Yothers had four hits, while Alana Weyant drove in three runs as the Lady Lions ended the game with four runs in the fifth. Weyant won both games of the twinbill. Alexis Corle also had two hits and two RBIs for the winners.
