EBENSBURG - Tussey Mountain picked up singles victories from Peter Riley and Joram Schrama, but it wasn't enough to move on as the Titans fell, 3-2, against Hampton Tuesday in the first round of the PIAA class AA team tennis tournament .
"Riley and Schrama played very well today against very good competition," Tussey Mountain coach Paul Brumbaugh said. "Both of them played very well under pressure, hit the ball well and accurately placed their shots."
The Titans were swept in both of their doubles matches. Ryan Hays and Ryan Turner came up just short against Hampton's Wes Banks and Robert Hodges, but did manage to make each set close.
"Hays and Turner had a hard fought battle in their doubles match and gaves us the best chance to win the match," Brumbaugh said. "They fought back from being down 4-0 in the first set and were leading at one point 3-2 in the second set, but didn't get key points when they needed them."
The Tussey Mountain boys tennis team finished up the season with a record of 11-3.
