Sanders’ two home runs spark Vikings’ rally

FLINTON - Glendale's Billy Sanders picked a good day to hit the first two home runs of his high school career.

Sanders, a senior, hit a solo home run in the third inning, then hit a two-out, three-run shot in the bottom of the seventh to lift the Vikings to a 12-10, come-from-behind victory over Southern Huntingdon in high school baseball Tuesday afternoon.

Sanders finished with four RBIs and four runs scored for Glendale, which trailed, 7-0, after the top of the first inning. Teammates Mitch Gedman and Ethan Cree added three and two hits, respectively. Cree also drove in two runs.

PATTON - Cambria Heights used the longball to sweep a doubleheader from Penn Cambria.

In the opener, Caleb Vescovi and Shane Mallin homered to lead the Highlanders to a 20-10 win in a game that featured 33 hits. Vescovi finished with four RBIs, while teammate Dominic Milanesi added three RBIs. Mallin had three hits to go with three hits from Nate Bearer and Tyler Thomas.

Penn Cambria, which scored nine runs in the fourth inning to take a 10-7 lead, got three hits and four RBIs from Jordan Fuller.

In the nightcap, Mallin hit two more home runs to go with one each from Milanesi and Tyler Crawford in Heights' 14-6 victory. Mallin finished with five RBIs to go with four from Tyler Crawford. The Panthers were led by Anthony Guzic with two hits and four RBIs in a game the Highlanders used a six-run fourth to take a 11-4 lead.

NBC juniors tops Tussey

LOYSBURG - The Northern Bedford junior high baseball team defeated Tussey Mountain, 7-6. Jonas Bequeth had four hits, including a double. and scored four runs for NBC. Kyler Diehl added two hits and stole six bases.
