Valley scores three runs in sixth to get by Pirates

WILLIAMSBURG - A three-run sixth inning turned out to be the difference for Juniata Valley in its 6-3 win over Williamsburg in high school baseball Thursday.

Ethan Morrison homered for the Green Hornets, who also got three hits and an RBI from Ryan Norris and two hits and an RBI from Seth Carper. Teammate Cody Patterson also added two hits.

Williamsburg, which led 2-1 going into the fifth, got a home run from Mike McCall and two hits each from Dalton Price and Adam Wheland.

CLAYSBURG - Claysburg-Kimmel beat Northern Bedford, 10-4, in junior high action.

Kyler Diehl led the hitting attack with two hits and two RBIs for the Black Panthers in the loss. Jonas Bequeth and Bronson Clapper also drove in runs for NBC.

VFW Teener League

BELLWOOD - Club Altoona Reliance Bank opened up VFW 13-14 Teener League play with a 12-2 win in five innings over Hollidaysburg Rotary at Drost Field.

Alex Martynuska led Club Altoona with two hits and two RBIs, while teammate Danny Kirwin added two hits. Winning pitcher Brett Koelle worked three innings and struck out seven for the win.

n Josh Smolko had two hits and three RBIs, and Andy Rubritz knocked in a pair of runs for Courtesy Motors in a 10-6 victory over Crossroads in a 13-14-year-old VFW game at Longer.
