CLEARFIELD - Philipsburg-Osceola hit three home runs, and Kate Burge pitched a two-hitter to beat Clearfield, 11-1, in six innings and give Lady Mountie coach Jim Gonder his 500th win in high school softball Wednesday.
Chelsea Rex, Mackenzie Wilson and Macy Harpster hit homers, and the first six batters in the lineup - Carly Gonder, Amanda Arnold, Wilson, Rex, Burge and Harpster -had two hits each.
Gonder, who has a career record of 500-122, said he wasn't aware he had won his 500th until after the game.

"I knew I was in the ballpark," he said, "but I wasn't worried about it. Obviously, it felt good, but I've been very lucky. I've had great assistant coaches and great players, so it's more of a team thing.
"I think if you live and coach long enough, you're going to get to this point. But the kids have really bought into the program and have been willing to work."
