Browell’s single propels NBC past Hyndman

LOYSBURG - Michelle Browell's two-run single highlighted a three-run sixth inning lifting Northern Bedford to a come-from-behind 6-4 win over Hyndman in high school softball Thursday.

Browell finished with three hits to go with two hits each from teammates Sierra Chesney and winning pitcher Megan Guyer.

NORTHERN CAMBRIA - Northern Cambria suffered its first two losses of the season as the Lady Colts were swept by Marion Center in a doubleheader.

In the first game, Northern Cambria's Becky Britton and Shawna Serafin had three hits apiece, and Bre Sabella and Miriah Butterworth had two hits apiece. MC's Billie Fairman had three hits, while Kayla Mack, Heidi Peterson and Amy Fairman had two hits each.

In the second game, the Lady Stingers hit four home runs, including two by Amy Fairman. Sabella had three hits, while Ashley Kanouff and Serafin had two hits apiece. Peterson, Mack, Robinson and Kristy Dotts had two hits each.

Northern Cambria fell to 11-2.

Altoona juniors split DH

The Altoona junior high softball team split a doubleheader with Clearfield on Thursday, winning the opener, 4-3, while dropping the nightcap, 9-6.

In game one, winning pitcher Alyssa Fasolo finished with four strikeouts. In game two, Emma Kruez had two hits for Altoona, while teammate Amanda Parrish drove in two runs. Altoona is now 3-7.

JV: Clearfield, 13-1, 7-6.

Lady Tiger juniors swept

HOLLIDAYSBURG - Lewistown swept a doubleheader from the Hollidaysburg eighth grade team, 17-7 in five innings and 10-2.

In the first game, Hollidaysburg's Alexis Stitt had two hits. In the second game, Alyssa Pheasant struck out five. Hollidaysburg is 1-4

7th grade: Hollidaysburg, 10-5. Ruggles, H, two hits, two triples. Second game: Lewistown, 12-10. Ruggles, H, two hits.
