PC’s Reese throws perfect game

EBENSBURG - Kate Reese tossed a perfect game as unbeaten Penn Cambria defeated Bishop Carroll, 2-0, in high school softball Wednesday.

Kelly Yusko had three hits for the Lady Panthers, and Crystal Smith tripled and drove in two runs.

EBENSBURG - Central Cambria got home runs from Taylor Swatsworth, Lindsey Beyer, Ali Vogatsky, Kacey Haluska and Breanne James in a win over Forest Hills.

James, who finished with three hits, got the 100th hit of her career with her first hit of the game, a single. Swatsworth also finished with three hits. Beyer drove in three runs in a game in which Central Cambria trailed 3-0 going into the bottom of the second.

Megan Gold had four hits for Forest Hills.

TYRONE - Philipsburg-Osceola improved to 8-1 thanks to a twinbill sweep over Tyrone.

In game one, Kate Burge struck out 10, walked one and gave up two hits in a 9-0 victory over the Lady Eagles. Philipsburg-Osceola, which led 5-0 after one inning, got two hits and five RBIs from Chelsea Rex. Teammate Amanda Arnold added two RBIs.

In the second game, Lindsey Knepp struck out eight, walked no one and scattered five hits in an 11-1, 5-inning victory. Rex drove in four more runs, while Haley Frank had two hits and three RBIs. Tyrone (0-9) got two hits from Destany Allen.

Altoona juniors lose

The Altoona Junior High School softball team dropped to 2-6 on the season with an 8-5 loss to Park Forest at the Logan Elementary School field.

Margot Berry had two singles for Altoona. Park Forest also won the junior varsity game, 15-0.
