Central erupts to beat Lady ’Cats

HUNTINGDON - Central had six batters with multiple hits and scored 10 runs in the eighth inning en route to a 16-6 victory over Huntingdon in high school softball Tuesday.

The Lady Bearcats committed eight errors during the game.

Marissa Ayers went 5-for-6 and had two RBIs, two doubles and scored two runs for the Lady Dragons in the win.

Shayna Hoover singled in a run in the bottom of the seventh to help Bishop Guilfoyle tie Cambria Heights at Garfield Park.

The game was called in the seventh when it began to rain heavily. Both coaches determined that the game could not be finished and that there would be no time on the schedule to complete the game so it was agreed it would go down as a tie.

Megan Blake had two hits for the Lady Marauders, while Lindsey Kosicki had three hits for the Lady Highlanders.

Michelle Browell was 3-for-4 with four RBIs, matching the number of runs Allie Lingenfelter drove in for the Lady Panthers. Forbes Road's Corri Parsons had three hits - including a double and a home run - and four RBIs.

NEW PARIS - Alana Weyant fired a three-hitter, and Chestnut Ridge scored 12 runs in the bottom of the third inning to make short work of Bedford.

Bridgie Yothers was the only Lady Lion with more than one hit, doubling and singling, while Brittany Mock and Tiffani Finnegan doubled and drove in two runs. Kacy Blevins homered in the first inning for Bedford.

Jenny Burket had six strikeouts, and Kerri Glass had a double with two RBIs to lead Claysburg-Kimmel to a 9-2 win in the nightcap.
