Claar reaches milestone

WILLIAMSBURG - Junior Ronette Claar had three hits - including the 100th of her career - as Claysburg-Kimmel downed Williamsburg, 11-1, in six innings of ICC North high school softball action Thursday.

Claar also had two RBIs, while Tori Murtiff's two-out single in the fourth deprived winning pitcher Kelsey Ickes of a no-hitter. Kala Brumbaugh collected a double and single for the Lady Bulldogs. Ickes and Brooke Ritchey had two hits apiece, and Samantha Barnes knocked in two runs.

Claysburg-Kimmel hiked its record to 6-2.

Weyant also belted a solo homer and struck out 10 in the first game. McCoy fanned 10 batters in the nightcap.

Altoona JH swept

Lewistown defeated Altoona, 7-5, in the first game of a junior high softball doubleheader at Logan Elementary. Alyse Saylor and Andrea Parrish each had two singles for Altoona in the game. In the second game, Lewistown defeated Altoona, 11-1, dropping the Lady Lions to 2-5.

P-O loses twice

MILL HALL - Central Mountain swept a doubleheader against Philipsburg-Osceola, 3-2 and 13-5. In the first game. P-O's Morgan Williamson had a double, and she was the losing pitcher. In the second game, Abby Showers hit a home run, and Hannah Shimmel had a double for the Lady Mounties, who slipped to 5-2.

B games: Central Mountain, 3-0 and 6-4.

Harris leads B-A

BELLWOOD - The 'A' Bellwood Antis junior high team defeated Glendale, 11-0, behind three hits from Rachel Harris. Bellwood's 'A' team is now 3-1. Glendale won the 'B' game, 13-5.
