Claar holds off Lady Devils twice

BELLWOOD - Ronette Claar was the winning pitcher for Claysburg-Kimmel in both games of a doubleheader in high school softball Wednesday.

The Lady Bulldogs defeated Bellwood-Antis, 10-8 and 2-0.

Claar struck out 19 batters on the day. Claar also hit the game-winning home run in the second game.

NORTHERN CAMBRIA - Miriah Butterworth pitched and batted Northern Cambria to a Heritage Conference, doubleheader sweep of Penns Manor.

Butterworth knocked in three runs and pitched an abbreviated no-hitter as Northern Cambria won the completion of a suspended game, 15-0, in three innings. In the regularly-scheduled game, Butterworth tossed a one-hit shutout, striking out six batters, and Shawna Serafin cracked a two-run homer, as Northern Cambria prevailed, 9-0.
