Hayley Weaver singled and scored from third base on a fielder's choice to lift Altoona to a 7-6 season-opening, eight-inning high school softball victory over Lewistown at the Logan Elementary Field Monday.
Weaver singled, advanced to second on Madeline Berry's single, and both runners advanced on a passed ball before Weaver scored the game-winner when Brooke Kudlawiec bounced into a fielder's choice.
Amanda Parrish and Didi Rizzo each had two hits and knocked in a pair of runs for Altoona, which also got two hits from both Weaver and Berry.

Winning pitcher Taylor Payne tripled and scored in the inning, while teammate Kelsey Shawley walked and later scored. Payne gave up two hits, struck out 11 and walked three. She finished with two RBIs.
Losing pitcher Tori Murtiff gave up two hits, struck out seven and walked five.
