Gary Walstrom Jr., a Glendale graduate, received the Leif J. Ellis Service Award for his efforts on the Geneva College football team this past season.
The award is presented annually to the Geneva football player that best exemplifies the qualities of Leif Ellis, which are a hardworking, team-oriented and unselfish player that brings his passion and personality on the field and lives it off the field.
Walstrom Jr. was a senior linebacker for the Golden Tornados.

Bellwood-Antis graduate Josh Kleinfelter was among 10 players honored at the 14th annual Student-Athlete Scholarship Banquet sponsored by the Central Pennsylvania chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Football Hall of Fame March 27.
Kleinfelter set the Lycoming College rushing record with 3,665 career yards.

John Love, a Northern Bedford graduate, pitched seven innings, allowing just one unearned run, in a 4-1 victory for the Juniata baseball team over Drew Saturday.
Love gave up just six hits and recorded four strikeouts.

Tyrone graduate Tyler Golden was the tough-luck loser for the Lock Haven baseball team in a 1-0 setback against California, Pa.
Golden pitched all seven innings, allowed just four hits and struck out seven batters.
Philipsburg-Osceola graduate Matt McCamley went a combined 3-for-6 in the doubleheader loss for Lock Haven.
Later in the week, in another Lock Haven loss, Huntingdon graduate Kevin Cressman went 2-for-4 with an RBI as Gannon topped the Bald Eagles, 10-9.

Johnny Shaffer, a Tyrone graduate, went 6-for-6 with a triple, double, four singles and five RBIs for Allegany College in a doubleheader sweep of Southern Maryland March 29.
Hollidaysburg graduate Jake Weibley doubled and singled in the first game for Allegany.

Hollidaysburg graduate Tyler Sell improved to 2-0 on the mound for the Gannon baseball team by picking up a victory over Alderson-Broaddus March 29.
Sell pitched five innings of shutout baseball and lowered his season ERA to 0.59.

Brooke Over, a Northern Bedford graduate, is ranked in the top 10 in the NCAA Division III rankings in three different categories, thanks to her performance for the Shenandoah softball team.
Through Friday, Over was ranked seventh with 93 strikeouts, ninth in hits given up per seven innings (4.36) and was 10th in strikeouts per seven innings (8.5).
Over also won three games and picked up a save for Shenandoah over the past week along with picking up four hits, including two doubles, driving in three runs and scoring two more.

Bishop Guilfoyle graduate Lauren Kristofco won three contests at No. 1 doubles and had two wins at No. 2 singles for the Allegheny College tennis team during the team's Hilton Head Island trip.

Chris Carper, an Altoona graduate, was named freshman and athlete of the week in the Northeast Conference for the Robert Morris track and field team.
He finished second in the javelin (210-7), and ran the fastest time in the NEC in the 400 hurdles last week at 55.25.

Hollidaysburg graduate Sean Brannan shot a 155 (+11) at the C&F Bank Intercollegiate golf tournament in Williamsburg, Va. for the Maryland golf team recently. Brannan finished tied for 71st in the event.

Altoona graduates Aaron Nadolsky and Brady Gehret, running for the Penn State men's track and field 1,600 relay team, set a record with a first-place time of 3:08.22 at the Pepsi Florida Relays on Sunday.

Shippensburg's Mike Treese, a graduate of Altoona, placed fifth in the 200-meter dash in 22:43 at the Lafayette Invitational. He also finished seventh in the 400.
