Ashley Furniture, which closed in early March, is expected to reopen in early May at the Logan Town Centre.
The closing occurred after a December court decision in Allegheny County Court under which the store's owner, Roomful Express, was placed in receivership under pressure from lenders who were owed millions.
Thirteen stores in Pennsylvania and Ohio were affected by the court decision.
Bob Varner, vice president of real estate for Pennswood Commercial Realty LLC, which holds the leasing contract for Logan Town Centre, said he has negotiated and signed a lease with Timothy Quinn, an Ashley Furniture store operator in western New York, to take over the store as well as the Ashley Furniture store on Galleria Drive in Johnstown.
"Tim Quinn, the principal for Ashley, was a pleasure to work with to arrive at the same goal for both parties and that was to lessen any down time from the former store closing and the new store opening," Varner said in a statement. "I'm very pleased that we were able to secure a deal with a great operator who is investing in the region by opening stores in Altoona and Johnstown."
Quinn has been able to keep many of the employees from the former store, Varner said.
