PSU dancers to perform
Penn State Altoona's Ivyside Dance Ensemble will perform at 7:30 p.m. April 28 and 29 in the Misciagna Family Center for Performing Arts.
"Impressions," created by KT Huckabee, assistant professor of integrative arts and dance, is based on a series of paintings done by Erica Harney. Harney, visual artist and faculty at University Park, created her paintings in response to live performances of "Suite for Violin and Double Bass." Dancers in these pieces will be accompanied by a violinist and double bassist during the Friday evening performance.
"Sketches in Space," a work by Instructor in Dance and Integrative Arts Caitlin Osborne, is a multi-section work which explores a variety of special concepts, patterns, plastique and borders, as well as psychological spaces that pit internal desire against outside pressure.
Another work by Osborne, "It Takes All Kinds," is a comic tale inspired by Runyonland, the prologue to the musical "Guys and Dolls." It is a moving picture of an urban environment and the characters who inhabit it.
Tickets are $5 for Penn State Altoona students, $7 for the general public and free for children under age 12.
