LEWISBURG -? Altoona junior Danielle Parowski earned all-state status on Friday at the PIAA Class AAA high school swimming championships at Bucknell University.
Parowski competed in the 200 freestyle, where she finished eighth out of 32 swimmers. Her first time was 1:51.59 which got her to the finals, where she swam a 1:51.42.
"She kept re-breaking her own records," Altoona coach Andy?Smearman said. "I?am super happy for her. We are real excited with how she is swimming."
Hershey's Meghan Raab won the gold medal with a time of 1:46.16. She swam a 1:46.53 in her first swim.
"The top three girls would be making Olympic cuts with those times,"?Smearman said.
Parowski will compete in the 100 freestyle today. Teammate Alex Cummings will swim in the 100 breaststroke today.
For Hollidaysburg, freshman Mace Long finished 32nd in the 100 butterfly in 54.65, his best time of the year. He swims in the 100 backstroke today.
"It was a really good race for him. He's a freshman who was going up against older kids," Hollidaysburg coach Deb Solomon said. "I was very happy for him."
Teammate Sarah Kaneshiki swims in the 500 freestyle today.
