In celebration of St. Patrick's Day and the strong community Irish heritage of the community, the Ancient Order of Hibernians will hold a dinner-dance March 12.
The social will begin at 5 p.m. at the Bavarian Hall, 112 S. 13th St., Altoona. Dinner will start at 6 p.m.
The program includes a presentation by Kirk Weixel, a professor of English at St. Francis University, Loretto.

Kirk Weixel, a professor of English at St. Francis University, Loretto, will talk about his experiences while traveling and teaching in Ireland during a St. Patrick’s Day dinner-dance at the Bavarian Hall,?Altoona.
He will address the topic of "Wanting to be Irish.''
Especially in the melting pot of America, those of mixed nationalities often embrase their Irish culture and hospitality.
Weixel, who has traveled and taught in Ireland, will explore the strong Irish threads in the Ameri-
can culture.
The program will also include entertainment and dancing.
