Name: Brian Denis
Age: 34
Residence: Duncansville
High school: Altoona, class of 1994
College: Dickinson
I usually attend games with: My wife, Amanda, and our daughter, Crosby
My favorite sport: Tennis
My all-time favorite local player to watch while growing up: Doug West
My all-time favorite local coach: Herb Faris
My favorite high school team: Hollidaysburg
My favorite college team: A tie between Pittsburgh basketball and Penn State football
My favorite pro team: A tie again between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Pittsburgh Penguins
The most famous sports person I have ever met: I would have to go with Franco Harris. I met him at Super Bowl XLV.
My most prized sports photograph/memorabilia: I have an autographed picture of Johnny Unitas. I got it from him along with a real nice letter he wrote to me.
My sports claim to fame: The fact that I have coached a state champion in singles for tennis (Peter Riley from Tussey Mountain) and fortunate enough to coach a Hollidaysburg state doubles championship team (Bobby Morris and David Genter) in 2003. That same 2003 year, I got to be an assistant coach for the Mount Aloysius women's basketball team that won a championship.
If I were the czar of local sports, the one thing I would change would be: Nowadays, I would like to see kids try to become excellent at their sport. They spend too much time playing video games and doing social network stuff, or going to the mall.
