An Altoona contact center is continuing to add jobs and hopes to be up to full capacity by the end of the year.
N.E.W. Customer Services Cos. Inc., the nation's leading provider of extended service plans and buyer protection programs for consumer products, expects to hire about 200 in 2011 at its contact center at 431 E. 25th Ave., said Jessica Meck, company recruiter.
The jobs are customer care representative positions that start at $9 an hour, but the employees will have the opportunity to supplement their income through incentives, Meck said.
The Sterling, Va.-based company announced in December 2008 that it would bring 480 jobs to the area.
Present employment is at about 350, and with the addition of the new jobs and taking attrition into account, "by the end of the year we hope to be up to full capacity of 480," Meck said.
"N.E.W. is very pleased to be part of this community. The level of quality work being done here has enabled us to grow as a company. Our clients across the United States receive a high quality of service from the Altoona team," said Mike Phillips, director of center operations.
To make room for the additional employees, the company is adding 75 seats in some previously unused open space, Meck said.
