Jazz legend visits area
HUNTINGDON - Cuban- born saxophonist Paquito d'Rivera and his band will perform a concert at Juniata College at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 1 in Rosenberger Auditorium in the Halbritter Center for the Performing Arts on the Juniata campus.
D'Rivera has been performing for more than 30 years and has won many Grammy Awards. In 2005, he received the National Medal for the Arts from President George W. Bush. He received the Living Jazz Legend Award from the Kennedy Center in 2007.
Tickets are $20 for the general public, $12 for seniors older than 65 and children 18 and younger and free for Juniata students with a student ID. For tickets and information about the Juniata College Presents series, please call 641-JTIX.
Jazz trio opens CPA?season
UNIVERSITY PARK - The closing Center for the Performing Arts jazz presentation of 2010-2011 - set for April 8 - features Dave Brubeck, the elder statesman of jazz piano. So it seems fitting that the opening jazz concert's headliner is Taylor Eigsti, a young pianist, composer and bandleader who has performed with and been inspired by Brubeck.
The Taylor Eigsti Trio, with guest singer Becca Stevens, will make its Penn State debut at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 12 in Schwab Auditorium.

Band honored during show
HUNTINGDON - Mixing new students performers with alumni players, while also combining classical compositions with historic works from Juniata College's early years, the Juniata Wind Symphony will honor the 75th anniversary of the college's band program in a concert at 2 p.m. Oct. 3, in Rosenberger Auditorium in the Halbritter Center for the Performing Arts on the Juniata campus.
Tickets for the concert are $5 for adults and are available at the box office on the day of the concert. Admission is free for Juniata students with current I.D.
Orchestra heads for PSU
UNIVERSITY PARK - Apollo's Fire, the Cleveland Baroque Orchestra, will perform Claudio Monteverdi's evening-length "Vespers for the Blessed Virgin, 1610," in concert at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 15 in Schwab Auditorium.

Dancers join with kids
UNIVERSITY PARK - Rioult, a New York City dance company that showcases the choreography of former Martha Graham Dance Company star Pascal Rioult, will perform at 2 p.m. Oct. 17 in Penn State's Eisenhower Auditorium.
The family-friendly program includes "Small Steps, Tiny Revolutions," a work featuring a dozen central Pennsylvania children chosen through audition; "Fables," a series of dances based on the Aesop-inspired stories of 17th-century French writer Jean de La Fontaine and Bolero, a work set to the famous music of the same title by Maurice Ravel.

MUNHALL - Aaron Lewis of Staind will perform, with a special guest to be announced, at 8 p.m. Oct. 21 at the Carnegie Library Music Hall of Homestead, 510 E. 10th Ave.
