Ashlynn Soellner, a Hollidaysburg graduate, has made an immediate impact on the Navy women's soccer team.

Soellner scored an 85th-minute goal in a 1-0 victory over Mount St. Mary's in Navy's first contest, and she registered a goal in a 1-0 overtime win against George Mason in the second game.

For her efforts, Soellner was named the Patriot League's Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week on August 30.

A pair of local athletes played a big role in the Mount Aloysius women's soccer team getting its season off to a good start.

Bellwood-Antis graduate Emily Burget scored a pair of goals, and Victoria Passanita, a Cambria Heights graduate, had a goal and an assist in the Lady Mounties' 7-1 victory over Penn State Beaver.

Huntingdon graduate Katie Keating scored her first collegiate goal for Juniata College in a 3-0 victory over Thiel College Sunday.

Gary Walstrom Jr., a Glendale graduate, recorded 10 tackles for the Geneva College football team in a victory over Frostburg State Saturday.

Hollidaysburg graduate Garrett Clawson has been selected as a preseason football All-American by the FCS Senior Scout Bowl Selection Committee.

Clawson was also named to the 2010 All-NorthEast Conference Preseason First Team squad for his career efforts at Robert Morris.

Lindsay Malloy, a Penn Cambria graduate, was named to the Cornell Invitational All-Tournament Team for her efforts on the St. Francis volleyball team this past weekend.

Malloy hit. 278 over three matches and recorded team highs in kills (37) and digs (27).

Malloy added 15 kills in a 3-1 victory over Youngstown State earlier in the week.

Huntingdon graduate Brittany McNeal had a team-high 21 digs for Youngstown State in the contest.

Central Cambria graduate Sam Link has transferred from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown to Penn State Altoona where she will participate in both basketball and volleyball.

Julie Paronish, a Northern Cambria graduate, had 24 digs combined for the California, Pa. women's volleyball team in a pair of losses in the Courtyard by Marriott Invitational this past weekend.

Bellwood-Antis graduate Chelsea Wilson helped the Vulcans with four kills in a loss to nationally ranked Lewis.

Michelle Herman, a Hollidaysburg graduate, was the top finisher for the Lycoming cross country team at the Delaware Valley Invitational, finishing 26th in the women's 5K with a time of 25:45.10.
