CPHS to hold pet walk, fair Sunday

August 23, 2010
The Altoona Mirror

The "Tails to Trails" pet walk will be held Sunday at Valley View Park, 301 Valley View Blvd., Altoona. Registration begins at noon, and Altoona Curve mascot Diesel Dawg will sound the horn when the walk starts at 1 p.m.

The event will raise funds for the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society.

Area residents are urged to gather friends and family, form a team and walk in honor of their pets and the many homeless animals at the shelter. Every dog will receive a special bandana. Walkers who raise at least $25 will receive a pedometer and walkers that raise $50 will receive a special "Tails to Trails" T-shirt. Walkers raising $75 or more will receive a T-shirt and a pedometer.

"The top three fundraisers win great prizes," said Nicole Bopp, CPHS marketing director. In addition to the pet walk, the humane society will host a pet fair from noon to 3 p.m. The pet fair will feature kid ID kits from noon to 2 p.m, pet ID cards, informational booths, pet contests, the Schwan's truck, food and games.

Schwan's Home Service will be attending the fair again this year and offering a percentage of all sales to the humane society. To pre-order call 888-724-9267 or visit www.schwans.com and make sure to include the CPHS campaign No. 29563. Orders can be picked up at the Valley View Park from noon to 3 p.m. on the day of the event. Take a cooler or purchase a freezer bag from Schwans.

All money raised will go help care for the homeless animals at the shelter.
