Pat M. Sinisi, 90, Altoona, passed away Saturday at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus.
He was born in Ripacandida, Italy, son of Michele A. and Rosina (Musto) Sinisi. He married Amelia M. Furgione on July 30, 1949, and she died July 13, 2008.
Surviving are two daughters: Patricia A. (Jim) Watson of Altoona and Deborah L. (Mark) Fusco of Hollidaysburg; three sons: Michael A. (Marianne), John P. (Cindy) and Anthony D. (Lori), all of Altoona; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and four sisters: Carmel Naperkoski of Baltimore, Md., Hilda Balestino of Altoona, Helen Urbanek in New York and Sister (Sylvia) Mary Celesta, IHM, of Scranton.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Rosemarie Givler; two sisters: Eleanor Sinisi and Norma Lestochi; and a brother, Anthony.
Pat was a 1938 graduate of Altoona High School. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII as a staff sergeant. He retired as a car repairman from Conrail in 1980.
Pat was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, where he was a member of the Holy Name Society. He also belonged to the A&J Iaia American Legion Post, the Order Sons of Italy, Blair Lodge and Horseshoe Seniors. He was a life member of the Bavarian Aid Society and an honorary member of the Buccinese Society.
He enjoyed gardening, playing the guitar and mandolin and spending time with family.
Friends will be received from 1 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2010, in the Santella Funeral Home, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2010, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery.
In memory of Pat, contributions may be given to the Mount Carmel Restoration Fund.
