Name: George Conrad
Age: 46
Residence: Davidsville
High school: Altoona, class of 1982
College: Penn State
I usually attend games with: my wife, Diane, and my kids
My favorite sport: Baseball
My all-time favorite local player to watch while growing up: 13th Ward's Joel Mock
My all-time favorite local coach: John Austin
My favorite high school team: Altoona
My favorite college team: Penn State
My favorite pro team: Pittsburgh Pirates
The most famous sports person I have ever met: Manny Sanguillen
My most prized sports photograph/memorabilia: I had a huge poster of Roberto Clemente that my mom once framed for me.
My sports claim to fame: I sat for an hour once and talked sports with actor Corbin Bernsen from the "Major League" movies when I was working in Allentown.
If I were the czar of local sports, the one thing I would change would be: I would like to see them get rid of participation trophies that they give out to young kids who play in sports. Trophies don't seem to mean as much today as they did when I was young.
