Genocide, forgiveness are subjects of movie

"As We Forgive," a documentary film about two Rwandan women on a journey to reconcile with the neighbors who killed their families during the 1994 genocide, will be shown for free at 7 p.m. May 16 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church social hall, 1401 12th Ave.

The film is narrated by Mia Farrow and directed by Laura Waters Hinson.

"As We Forgive" will be introduced by Jean Thomas Woynicki, a consul at the U.S. Embassy, Kigali, Rwanda.

Woynicki is a graduate of Bellwood-Antis High School. She earned her master of business administration in global management from the University of Phoenix.

She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Thomas of Altoona.

There is no charge for the event. Rwandan coffee will be served.
