Former Penn State quarterback Daryll Clark has signed a free agent contract with the Washington Redskins, he confirmed in a text message.
Clark, a two-year starter who set single-season passing records for yards (3,003) and touchdowns (24) and the Nittany Lions' all-time passing leader in touchdowns (43), will be the fifth quarterback on the Redskins' roster.
He will join Donovan McNabb, Rex Grossman, Colt Brennan and Richard Bartel.
It was reported Saturday that Clark had signed with the Steelers, but his father told the Youngstown Vindicator, Clark's hometown newspaper, that such talk was unfounded.
"They may have talked to his agent at some point, but they haven't talked to my son,'' Daryll Clark Sr. said.
Clark and his agent, former Penn State wide receiver Chafie Fields, did not return phone messages seeking comment.
