James E. Haluska, 74, Patton, passed away Wednesday at Miners Medical Center, Hastings.
He was born in Patton, son of the late Steve and Mary (Merskey) Haluska. He married Elizabeth "Betsy" Baron Nov. 19, 1955.
Surviving are his wife; three children: James (Margaret) of Keswick, Va., and Ken (Carol) and Paula (Bernard) Albright, both of Patton; eight grandchildren: Rebecca Roach, Jim Haluska, Leon, Bryan and Matthew Haluska, Bob Vinglish and Aimee and Alex Albright; four great-grandchildren: Isaac Roach, Samantha, Maisun and Alana; two siblings: Bernadette Holtz in Maryland and Bernard of Patton; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Louis.
Jim was employed as a truck driver for Patton Box and Paper Co. and then later for Drenning Delivery System in Altoona. He also opened Haluska Studio in Patton in 1963, which he operated until his retirement in 2006 after 43 years of service. He was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church, where he served as an usher for many years.
Jim was very involved with the Boy Scouts since 1963 and was awarded the Order of Merit in 1970. He served as Cub Master for Pack 82 for nine years and also served with the Boy Scouts from 1970 to the present. He also enjoyed camping, bowling, hunting and fishing.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Stevens Funeral Home Inc., 1004 N. Fifth Ave., Patton (www.stevensfh.com), where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010, at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Patton, by Benedictine Fathers. Committal in St. Mary's Cemetery.
