Richard E. ‘Dupp’ AungstMarch 29, 1936 – Dec. 26, 2009December 28, 2009Richard E. "Dupp" Aungst, 73, of Reservoir Road, Hollidaysburg RD, died Saturday at his residence. He was born in East Freedom, son of the late Charles R. and Sara M. (Langham) Aungst. He married Ruth Elizabeth Pearson on May 11, 1957 in Winchester, Va. He is survived by his wife of 52 years; three children: Ronda Walter and husband, Wayne, of Duncansville, Rick Aungst and wife, Karen, of Hollidaysburg RD and Renee Rhodes and husband, Roy, of Martinsburg; nine grandchildren: Reanna Aungst, Jayme Walter, Brett Walter, Jennifer Walter, Heather Foster, Angela Smith, Richie Walter, Jesse Walter and Kenneth Walter; two stepgrandchildren: Lynn Rhodes and Crystal Rice; seven great-grandchildren; and three sisters: Betty Snyder of Roaring Spring, Pauline Herron of Hollidaysburg and Ivy Smith of Hollidaysburg. He was preceded in death by three brothers: Charles L. (Pete) Aungst, John O. Aungst and Clair E. (Whitey) Aungst. Richard was a member and trustee of the Leamersville Church of the Brethren. He retired in 1999 from New Enterprise Stone & Lime Co. after 20 years of service and had previously worked at Montgomery's in Hollidaysburg on Porsches, Volkswagens, and Audis. He attended Hollidaysburg Area schools. He enjoyed Mopar, camping and working on cars. He was a charter member of the Shanty Shakers. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Todd T. Thompson Funeral Home Inc. (www.thompsonfh.com), Roaring Spring, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday by Pastor Stephen G. Durr. Interment will be made at Salem Reformed Cemetery, Martinsburg. |
