3 eggs
2 cups granulated sugar
3/4 cup shortening
1 cup sour cream
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
6 cups flour
Cream together eggs, sugar and shortening. Blend together sour cream, baking soda, nutmeg cream of tartar and flour and add to creamed mixture. Mix all together until blended.
Divide the dough into seven to 10 balls and place in container to chill for two to three hours or overnight. Each child receives his own ball of dough to roll out which will make seven to 10 cookies. Bake 350 degrees Fahrenheit for eight to 10 minutes.
Decorate with sprinkles after being rolled out and cut into shapes with cookie cutters or they can be iced and then sprinkled.
Makes 70 to 75 cookies.
