Derek Keith Weaver

April 22, 1986 - Dec. 5, 2009

Derek Keith Weaver, 23, Manns Choice, went home to be with the Lord at 11:56 a.m. Saturday at Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown.

He was born in Altoona, son of George and Karen (Detterline) Weaver.

He married Lori Beth Cloud Sept. 9, 2006. She is the daughter of Richard and Linda Cloud of Manns Choice and sister to Christy Foster and Jenna Cloud.

Surviving are his parents; his wife; a brother, Josiah; his grandparents, Willard and Jean Detterline; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Derek was home-schooled and graduated from high school in 2005. He was employed at Shawnee Vinyl in Bedford.

He attended ACTS Community Church, Bedford, where he played bass guitar on the worship team and worked with the youth of the church. He was a very accomplished musician, playing various instruments. He previously was active in Royal Rangers and experienced mission trips to Bolivia and Trinidad with his mother.

Derek was an avid hunter and gun collector and enjoyed riding motorcycles, attending car shows and socializing with people.

A private family burial service will be held. A memorial celebration service of Derek's life will be held at 6 p.m. Jan. 9, 2010, at Manns Choice Church of God. If there is inclement weather, it will be rescheduled for 6 p.m. Jan. 16., 2010.

The family invites all those who were touched by his life to come and witness this celebration.

The family is requesting that no flowers be sent. Memorial contributions may be given to the Derek Weaver Memorial Fund at the Hometown Bank in Everett/Bedford or mailed to George and Karen Weaver, 278 Branch Road, Woodbury, PA 16695, to assist with expenses.
