Reid E. Ritchey II

Reid E. Ritchey II, 56, of Roaring Spring passed away Saturday afternoon at West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh.

He was born in Altoona, son of Reid E. and Elizabeth (Ormsby) Ritchey. He married Anita L. Reighard on March 4, 1979, in Waterside.

Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Angelina R. Hook (husband, John) of Elizabethtown; a son, Douglas A. of Hedgesville, W.Va.; two granddaughters: Katrina and Margaret Hook, both of Elizabethtown; his parents of Altoona; and two brothers: Randy and Andrew, both of Martinsburg.

Mr. Ritchey was presently attending Cornerstone Fellowship of Mill Run, Altoona, and was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Martinsburg.

He retired as an employee in the wood yard at Appleton Papers Inc., Roaring Spring, in 2007, after 28 years of service.

Mr. Ritchey was a 1971 graduate of Central High School, Martinsburg.

He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, serving on the USS Horne, attaining the rank of fire control technician third class.

Mr. Ritchey enjoyed woodworking and ham radio operating; he recently obtained his general amateur radio license.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at John C. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cornerstone Fellowship of Mill Run with Pastor Jeff Jones officiating. Interment with military flag honors performed by the Blair County Veterans Honor Guard will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.

Because of Reid's courageous battle against leukemia, the family prefers memorial contributions be given to the Appleton Papers Relay For Life team, c/o American Cancer Society, Blair Unit, 1004 N.
