Rock groups coming to BJC

UNIVERSITY PARK Shinedown and Puddle of Mudd will join forces for a concert at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 3 at the Bryce Jordan Center, with special guests Skillet.

Tickets are $32.50 for the general public and $10 for Penn State students.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. today and can be purchased at the Bryce Jordan Ticket Center, Eisenhower Auditorium, Penn State Tickets Downtown, the Penn State Altoona Campus, online at www.ticketmaster. com and www.bjc.psu.edu or charge-by-phone at 865-5555.

ASO presents X-mas concert

The Altoona Symphony Orchestra will hold its annual Christmas concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Mishler Theatre in Altoona.

"Home for Christmas" features special guests from the Blair Concert Chorale, State College Choral Society and combined childrens choirs from the Hollidaysburg and Bellwood school districts. Selections with the choral ensembles will include "A Musicological Journey through the Twelve Days of Christmas," excerpts from Handel's "Messiah" and popular Christmas medleys.

Tickets are $20 and $30 for the general public and $10 for students. Tickets can be purchased at the Mishler box office or by calling 943-2500.

TCP casting for big event

TYRONE - The Tyrone Community Players will hold auditions for its Silver Anniversary Spectacular on Dec. 13 and 14.

Auditions for children ages 8 to 12 will be held at 4 p.m. Dec. 13, and auditions for adults will be held at 7 p.m. Dec. 13 and 14. Both sets of auditions will be held at the TCP building at 11th Street and Logan Avenue.

The show will be held at the end of February.

Director Cindy Bennett is hoping to get original cast members for the musical pieces in the show, but is flexible with the idea. Rehearsals for the show will begin after the new year.

If original cast members are interested, but can not make auditions, call Bennett at 684-1219.

ACT filling 'Woolf' cast

Altoona Community Theatre will hold auditions for its February production of "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" at 7 p.m. Tuesday, in the Barbara Titelman Spessard Rehearsal Hall of the ACT Workshop, 1213 12th St., Altoona.

The cast requires two males and two females. Previous experience or prior participation with ACT are not required to audition.

Auditions will consist of readings from the script. No advance preparation is required, but the director encourages auditionees to be familiar with the play and to bring their schedule of conflicts with them. Rehearsals for the show will begin the first week in January. Performances are February 18 to 21 at the Mishler Theatre.

Chorale plans holiday show

The Blair Concert Chorale and the The Blair Concert Chorale Children's Choir will perform their annual holiday concert, "Holiday Splendor," at 8 p.m. Dec. 12 at the Misciagna Family Performing Arts Center on the Penn State Altoona campus.

Tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for students and are available by calling 944-7851, online at www.blairconcertchorale.org or at the Misciagna box office one hour before performances. Tickets are also available at Treese Music, Hollidaysburg.
