Tyrone Area High School will go for its ninth District 6 football championship on Friday night, then its archrival Bellwood-Antis will shoot for its sixth district crown on Saturday evening, the district released through its Web site on Sunday.

Both games will be at Mansion Park, kicking off at 7 p.m.

Bellwood, the second seed in its bracket with an 11-0 record, will take on defending champion Bishop McCort, which is also 11-0.

The Blue Devils were responsible for one of the only two losses Tyrone has sustained in 12 starts. The Golden Eagles, seeded third, meet undefeated and top-ranked Forest Hills in their first trip to the finals since 2006.

Bedford will also be in action on Friday night. The 6-6 Bisons, the District 5-8 champions, play District 9 power Karns City at Panther Community Stadium in Loysburg at 7 p.m.

Richland High School's Herlinger Field will be the site Friday night for District 6 Class AAA champion Johnstown's PIAA first-round game against undefeated Selinsgrove of District 4. That also will start at 7 p.m.

District 6 chairman Ray Wotkowski also told the Mirror on Sunday that State College's PIAA Class AAAA quarterfinal game vs. the WPIAL champion will be played Nov. 4 at Mansion Park.

Why would they bring Karns city all the way down to Northern Bedford? That field isn't suitable for state playoffs.

State College will play the WPIAL Champion at Mansion Park on December 4th - not on Nov. 4th as written in the story.
